Since 2009, I have dedicated myself to the study and re-creation of brass instruments from the fourteenth to the eighteenth centuries. I seek to recapture the rich artisanal character of the originals, remaining true not only period measurements and proportions, but also to the greatest possible extent period techniques. Through careful study of surviving originals, coupled with my understanding of the requirements of Renaissance and Baroque brass repertoire as an active performer, I aim to produce instruments which will inspire sensitive, nuanced, and authentic interpretation of the glorious music for which they were designed.
